All landlords (except registered social housing providers) must comply with the regulations that came into force in October 2015.
- Fit a smoke alarm on each floor of the premises
- Fit a carbon monoxide alarm in rooms containing a solid fuel appliance
- Check that the alarms are working at the start of each new tenancy
Failure to comply with the regulations could lead to penalties of up to £5,000.

Please note that some tenancies such as shared accommodation with the landlord, student halls of residence, hostels and refuges, care homes, hospitals and hospices are excluded.
Before filling in this form please ensure that you have informed your tenants and they have consented to staff from Cleveland Fire Brigade contacting them to arrange to visit them and fit smoke and carbon monoxide alarms where necessary.
