Partnership Working


Cleveland Fire Brigade is committed to partnership working to ensure our communities receive the best possible prevention, protection and emergency response services. We have a long history of collaboration with North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) and Cleveland Police.

Examples of our collaborations include:

  • Co-location of Cleveland Police’s neighbourhood policing team at Thornaby Community Fire Station
  • Shared use of the Brigade’s Incident Command Unit to support JESIP
  • Co-responding with NEAS on Cleveland’s East Coast to provide Emergency Medical Response
  • Cleveland Emergency Planning Unit – its role is to ensure the local authorities and emergency services are prepared to respond to incidents. The unit includes the Emergency Planning Officers from Cleveland Fire Brigade, Cleveland Police and the North East Ambulance Service

We work with the four local Authorities, the NHS, the National Probation Service and others to deliver educational programmes aimed at reducing crime and anti-social behaviour, reducing health inequalities, and educating and inspiring children and young people to fulfil their potential.

NHS England, the Royal College of General Practitioners and Fire and Rescue Services (FRS) in England work together to share information (where relevant, proportionate and necessary) to allow fire service staff to carryout home safety assessments.  The elderly population are more vulnerable to fire deaths and other risks, and home visits are proven to make them safer and can significantly reduce risks.

Cleveland Fire Brigade is part of the Teeswide Safeguarding Adults Board, this Board is responsible for developing strategies to reduce risk and prevent harm, and to respond effectively when abuse and neglect occurs. Our vision is to ensure our safeguarding arrangements help and protect adults.
